Accent lighting has several different purposes.  You can use outdoor accent lighting to brighten up a flower bed, bring attention to your newly stained deck, or even point the accent lights at your house to show it off.  Whatever purpose you decide to use the outdoor accent lighting is up to you, but the results will be phenomenal.  Outdoor accent lighting fixtures usually come in these styles:
